We desperately need a new striker
. We can't go through this season with Barry and Beto as neither of them are good enough. Both Beto and Barry cost similar fees, now I can understand the Beto signing, as payments were deferred for a season, but quite frankly I'm baffled by the Barry signing. Don't get me wrong, l don't blame Barry. If anyone had the opportunity to join a Premier League side they would jump at it. I really hope that I am wrong, but I honestly don't believe that I am.
I've watched a lot of Barry since we were first linked with him, at Villarreal, with the French U21's and obviously with ourselves and I've seen absolutely nothing to make me change my opinion. Normally you'd see some quantities in a player and say we can work on this, or improve on that, but there's absolutely nothing. I few tidy touches or lay offs 50 yards from goal don't make a quality striker, we learnt as much with Calvert Lewin, whose work outside of the box was excellent, but as we all know his finishing was dreadful. Barry's miss against Roma wasn't a one off, it is the norm.
As we have now recruited a fair chunk of our coaching staff from Leeds I'm wondering if he was previously a Leeds target, or if they appointed Stevie Wonder as head scout.
My main concern is that with our improved more expansive attacking play is that we cannot afford to miss so many chances and unfortunately if we have to depend on Barry and Beto we will. We don't need a striker that is a work in progress we need a striker for the here and now.
{Ed025's Note - i really want to tell you that you are are talking rubbish and that we will be fine with the 2 we have Shropshire..but i cant mate, i know we need a right back and possibly a DM but for me the priority is a striker with movement and guile who does not panic when a chance comes his way..

I'd be happy if we stuck with the squad as is if we were able to add a striker - problem is I can't think of who we would go for.

Hallelujah Shropshire I liked Barry the first couple of times but now he seems so similar to Beto both have no ball control and neither seem get the basics right and both are clumsy hopefully we can change that this window mate.

You know . I've been watching and playing football all my life and don't have to be a scout to spot a player. but these two . no sorry I don't know what the scouts saw in either of them to think they are ideal for Everton.
Vardy could be Andy Gray number 2 I think the perfect fit for the style and approach play we now incorporate into today's game.

We need a striker as a matter of urgency Ed. We may only get a couple of chances in certain games and we need someone who can take them. With the attacking players we have now with the addition of a decent striker Europe is a possibility. It certainly isn't with the 2 strikers we have now.
{Ed025's Note - it would certainly give us another string to our bow Shropshire, i believe our other strikers will still have a part to play as an alternative option mate but i would be delighted with mobile slotter i cant lie..

Give Barry a chance jeez. Just joined a new club, teammates, league (toughest) , language, country.
Players struggle to start with pretty often.
How many 19yr old smash it in a new league straight away. Especially such a demanding league.
More senior strikers have needed time to settle across most clubs.
Chill out and give him a chance, might need a season or 2 before we see if he will flourish or not.
{Ed025's Note - i dont think people are saying bin him BB, but he is a work in progress and young so another striker will take the heat off him mate, it will give him time to settle in without the pressure and let him develop without the crowd getting on his back if he under performs..

Thete is potential with Barry but he will need time to settle in this league, it's like nothing he's ever played in before. That said, I don't think he is ready right now to be our main striker.
Getting a RB should be our priority right now and then we should address the CF's as the alternatives to Barry as a starter are very uninspiring.
