Im enjoying the game but my God, Barry is woeful.

Agree1 Disagree0

Agreed Dent. Beto has held the ball up much, much better.

27 Aug 2025 22:04:04
Beto woeful again.

27 Aug 2025 22:24:34
Thought he held the ball up well, came short and linked up a few times, and scored. How that qualifies as woeful is beyond me, but hey, let’s just all jump on the agreed narrative.

27 Aug 2025 22:31:47
Still bagged a goal.

27 Aug 2025 22:32:46
Yep 2-0 what a dufus is Beto.

27 Aug 2025 22:34:28
Too much of the Vin Rouge over in Guernsey.

27 Aug 2025 22:43:48
Thought Barry had some nice touches in link up play but looked lost for most of the game.

Was good to see us actually dominate a game against lower league opposition for once though? Alcatraz was excellent, will be interested to see how Moyes keeps everyone happy, especially if we go out and sign another CM, but it's a much better problem to have than usual.

Let's be honest, jb, this isn't far off his own level. Scoring against Mansfield isn't going to chamge how he fairs in the Prem. Barry had a couple of good touches but he certainly needs to improve as well. Think it shows us all that we need to bring in a forward who can hit the ground running. Our options aren't great up. top right now.

I still say that with the attacking threat we now have, Vardy would bag a sack full.

UTFT NSNO IMWT.

I’ve never said that Beto is the number 9 to take us forward. Currently, I’d start Beto over Barry. A new striker would be great, but not easy to come by. With Ndayie, Grealish, Dibling, Alcaraz, we need a striker that the ball can stick to so he can bring them into play.

27 Aug 2025 23:39:48
Last two games 3 from midfielders 1 from a forward we won’t really need anyone prolific up front if we keep this up, Beto is our pound shop Lukako he will do alright.

I know mate, I'm just saying that, against better opposition, beto is almost anonymous and I'd expect him to revert to type when up against better defenders. It looks like he's fallen out of favour with DM and, coupled with the fact that Barry is taking his time finding his feet in this league, another forward should be brought in.

Beto and Lukaku shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence! I said it the other day in another post, he's more like a poor man's Nunez. Rom had a poor touch but he also had a lot more quality about him.

Adding to that last reply, the lukaku comparison was from a post further down so apologies if anyone thinks it was aimed at any replies in this thread.

I don't blame Barry at all for tonight. Grealish, Carlos and Dwight kept coming inside taking up his space instead of spreading the pitch and getting the ball into the box. He had some good touches and held the ball well when he got it.

In the second half, Beto benefited from the change after half time making the pitch wider. He took his goal well but he is not good enough for where we want to be. I also don't think he's going to progress whereas Barry clearly will.

We need another striker though but no idea on who we should go for. They need a good brain to work with Grealish, Ndyia, KDH and Carlos.

Finally tonight Seamus was MOM for me with Armstrong a very close second.

{Ed025's Note - i really dont know what you seen in the Barry performance that gave you any optimism that he will improve John, i studied him for this game to see if i was being too harsh on the lad but i seen nothing that gave me any sort of hope that he will improve mate, yes we do come inside a lot but thats up to the forward to make the runs and open up space but he gave me nothing to say he might work for us, i would love to be proved wrong and maybe its just me though..

Yeah I don't disagree ED but Beto is what he is and his ceiling has been reached. For me Barry has only just joined the club. On Saturday it was his hold up play, running off the ball and lay offs that created the two goals.

For tonight the forward players ran into his areas constantly. There were no chances for anyone. He still didn't play well but at such a young age he'll get better and will learn.

I think he's just a work in progress
And we'll need a bit of patience with him. New club, players, manager and system.

{Ed025's Note - i get your point John and maybe he is one for the future, the fact is that for the here and now he is not the answer imo mate, the style has changed and he does not fit the brief, he is young and maybe can adapt of course and of course this is just 1 mans opinion and i could be wrong....but that has not happened since 1978.. :)
