I think if we get Dibbling in, it’d make sense to let him go and best for him. How much is he worth though in today’s crazy market? 20/ 25 million? Will another team pay that for him?

13 Aug 2025 18:48:04
Havent seen that surface anywhere.

It will no doubt be on NewsNow ST.

I was hoping for this to happen tbh but thought I would have got pelters due to not being blessed with depth.

Personally, I would get rid. Nothing against the lad but running around aimlessly and leaving gaping holes in your position for teams to pass it round you and immediate exploit is not what we are after.

Still a young lad and should be plenty of PL teams interested in him tbf. I think we could easily get 25/ 35 million for him in this market.

Still only 25 with 7 years PL exp. 225 games. 21 goals 31 assists.

13 Aug 2025 19:59:28
Think it is someone suggesting he would struggle for game time and just an opinion. My viee is we should utilise him as the spare full back on both side as he is a good crosser of the ball in a similar way to Fergie utilised Antonio Valencia.

13 Aug 2025 20:21:03
We are trying to build a decent squad so why would we let him leave? We are short on numbers already and will get injuries so no way should we let him go this window.

13 Aug 2025 20:22:48
I agree Cookie. Many wingers have moved backwards to defence in the past, ashley young was a winger. Also plenty full backs have moved to wingers, like Gareth Barry. i'm sure Coleman was utilised on RW for Blackpool when he helped them get promoted.

It hasn't ST it was written as if Everton did this or that could Mcneil want away.

13 Aug 2025 23:29:22
So its just click bait rubbish re posted here basically?

14 Aug 2025 06:10:16
It does give us something to talk about though Scottish.

I don’t think he’ll go. He’ll probably end up on the bench or covering injuries as we know it will happen. There’s also AFCON so he’ll be starting through that period. Most likely squad rotation which is a luxury for us.

14 Aug 2025 09:12:52
Look he’s to slow to be a full back. But the lad has a lot of talent. He is exactly what we need to strengthen our bench, and would be good cover for Grealish. Got to move away from having kids and two keepers as back ups.

14 Aug 2025 09:27:17
The only thing he needs to worry about this season is trying to keep himself fit for more than 5 minutes. I like the guy and he scores some belters. He is a good squad bench option and as said, Afcon season and injury and general rotation, he will still have a big part to play. Let's not start getting loco and bombing players out especially when 2 weeks ago you were all crying for signings. Efc fans are special alright.

14 Aug 2025 09:53:18
Or alternatively you sell the lad whilst his stock is relatively high, turn a slight profit on him and get another in. That is how a proper outfit operates.

14 Aug 2025 10:38:38
Let him go if he wants to go. Nobody has ever wanted him except us. If he was PL quality, clubs would be lurking for him. We need a dribbler, and a quick dribbler.

14 Aug 2025 10:38:50
No it’s not a proper outfit builds a strong squad. They don’t sell players because they might make a small profit. Stability is the key to building a strong side, not constant change. Have we not learned that yet?

14 Aug 2025 13:50:45
BMD, you aren't wrong but letting him go and replacing him would not make our squad any weaker, if we carry on recruiting as we have in this window. Loads of change isn't great but when you are as bad as we have been, it isn't as black and white as that, as the improvement is so easily attainable. Look at Forest.

The roots of the defence will remain unchanged. Idrissa - as you were. KDH, Grealish, two players that would moonwalk into our side. Ndiaye, arguably our best player last year.

Proper outfits sell (squad) players that make sense due to the profit involved and their confidence in replacing them. That is how the wheels keep turning and improvements are made more efficently.

We have had 3 seasons off McNeil now. We know what he brings. He is not a bad player by any stretch but he is no longer a starter. Of course we need a squad but PL clubs would pay decent money for him. That could bring us replacements in other areas, that arguably need attention before we even start about thinking about the squad e. g. RB, LB, RW. Now potentially CB.

It is unfortunate for him but this window has moved him out of the equation due to the ability of the lads coming in to play multiple positions. Grealish and Ndiaye are streets ahead of McNeil and I would rather have KDH in any position that McNeil plays.

McNeil out for A profit and then purchasing some decent fullbacks or putting it towards a winger would make absolute sense to me mate.

14 Aug 2025 14:26:09
If we are selling a winger to buy a full back then we will still have kids on the bench. It’s about having competition for places. That’s what makes a strong team. Agree we need to strengthen the right side, but would hope we don’t need to sell to do that.
But hey BN not worth us falling out over as we will probably both be wrong anyway mate ?.

14 Aug 2025 14:44:50
Got a feeling we start the season with McNeil as our RW (where he played a year pretty poorly for Burnley)

14 Aug 2025 15:33:53
Certainly no falling out from my side mate or yours.

You are right again, we do need competition for places but it is more important to improve the first 11 than worry about the bench first. We don't even have a starter on the RW, just square pegs. We have a few players that can cover that left wing now - Nidaye, Grealish and even young Aznou. Centrally we have the numbers too, Ndiaye, Grealish, KDH, Alcaraz can all play in there.

We have already spent a fair whack compared to what we have seen us do in recent windows and with the entire right side needing so much attention, if we have to sell, in essence a squad player now, then we should focus on strengthening the first 11 first.

A RW and a decent RB that can start will not come cheap. If McNeil fetching us £25/ 30 million helps bring better quality into the team, then crack on for me.

The bench wouldn't be full of kids anymore with the smart signings we have made in KDH and Grealish.

Beto or Barry
New winger or Alcaraz
Garner
Keane
Aznou/ Myko
Travers
Tim
Armstrong.
