Not a fan of Dyche, but, think we all owe him a debt of thanks, he has, under the most extreme difficulties, saved our club from
disaster.
Is he the man to take us forward,? I don't know, but if he wants to, and is able to do so, without his hands being tired behind his back in a financial seance, then I think he has earned the chance.

Spot on intheblue. Echoed those sentiments myself. šŸ‘.

28 Apr 2024 18:17:41
Add to that intheblue. Majority on here asked for stability at the beginning of the season, now they want to rock the boat further after the guy has done his remit. Not pretty no, effective yes.

2nd most clean sheets in league, decent top4-10 XG all season and fought off the PTS deductions we would have been challenging 12th-10th finish.

Next season could potentially be worse for charges and squad strength yet people think we are going to be a attractive proposition for any up and coming manager or player, throw them in deep end hey.

Think patience and reality check very much needed at times, we are far out of the woods as a club, stability was asked for, stability is needed imo.

Agree1 0Disagree

28 Apr 2024 18:41:06
The fact that we are safe in April having had 8 points deducted is quite something and they way the team have responded since Chelsea is very pleasing indeed - SD clearly had the players behind him.

The problem is that itā€™s not great to watch and when weā€™re bad weā€™re awful and the team are clearly a form team, some dreadful runs followed by some exceptional ones.

We will probably be much weaker next year if Branthwaite and Onana go and thereā€™s no guarantee of any money to replace them.

Itā€™s tough being an Evertonian, but itā€™s great!

We would be insane to let dyche go nobody else would get that current team playing and winning our last 3 young upcoming managers are why we are where we are . imagine lampard silva or kooman still here we would be well gone by now Tracky Dyche is the man.

I absolutely appreciate what he has done. Of course until our financial state is stablised we are not attractive. Stadium is key. Get that and takeover sorted, then we can (if still muted) address do we need a Dyche to lead us forward.

He implied recently that the job he was sold hasnā€™t really been the same as what has happened. I read into that the transfer choices and all the finances malarkey that has resulted in point deductions. Heā€™s done well with what he has and it could get a lot worse than better in the next 12 months. His style of football is not our future but until we can afford to get in better, we are stuck with Dycheball for at least another season. Letā€™s hope he can get us finishing higher than 15th.

Two questions, if moyes leaves west ham would anyone take him as a dyche replacement?

And Ross Barkley, should he be brought back? He's done fantastic at Luton and surely will be available once their relegation is confirmed

Id personally say no to Moyes and yes to Barkley. I think dyche should get another season, the football is turgid don't get me wrong but if you add on the deducted points it's actually a really good season considering how some of the players just aren't premier league standard and the squad was painfully thin. Would be harsh to sack him now.

I may be in the minority here but why change manager now! He's done a solid job with in many ways our worst squad in years, we are defensively solid but far from a creative side, and points deductions aside basically mid table.

Only thing that worries me is our recruitment it's flakey at best, and sure there's a reluctance to play youngsters but we where never safe enough in reality.

Agree2 0Disagree

28 Apr 2024 20:10:19
No for me to both. I'd stick with Dyche. I think what's he's done has been under appreciated. With those 8 points deducted, all the crap going on behind the scenes with ownership. I think he's done a brilliant job, OK not pretty but he's working miracles with the tools he's got. I don't think many people would believe we would be safe with 3 games to go. We would have been 13th in the table if we hadn't been deducted. So for me, hats off to Dyche and his team, the players and fans! Job done, it'll be a boring end of season for us, thank God šŸ˜.

So De Zebri is being touted for all the big jobs - yet Dyche who without the points deduction would be on the same points as De Zebri isnā€™t - such a fickle game.

Dyche has also won one more game than De zebri.

Think majority would also say Brighton have a better squad than us.

Not suggesting Dyche should get a top job - just highlighting that he may not be getting the credit he deserves.

Agree1 0Disagree

28 Apr 2024 16:54:26
De Zerbi took Brighton very close the CL qualification and then finally Europa. They have had a classic 1st season in Europe cup syndrome. Their league form has suffered. But they still have a good chance of a top10 and now a season of experience. I just can't see the comparison. Bonkers opinion.

Agree1 0Disagree

28 Apr 2024 20:09:23
Glad you think my opinion is bonkers

You do realise that Dyche managed to get a terrible Burnley team into Europe by finishing 7th in the premier league as well as getting a 10th placed finish the following season.

Genuinely believe all the upheaval at the club has prevented us seeing what he and the team could have realistically achieved this season.

Think with everything thatā€™s gone on with the club heā€™s done a decent job to keep us up.

As bad as some of the performances have been Iā€™d rather have those performances and stay up than try and play expansive attacking football like Luton have and go down.

{Ed025's Note - thats a fair point Dan, even though im not a big fan of SD mate..

Great effort and commitment from the whole team yesterday in getting a 3rd win in 6 days. Size of our squad does not allow for rotation.
Wouldn't surprise me if on appeal we now get our 2 points back for this season and these are deferred to next season, where we start on -2 points.
Might be wise to pull the appeal.

Maybe I didn't explain myself properly so sorry if it's come across like that.
My concern is the appeal against the 2 point penalty, I assume could go a number of ways. No change, keep the 2 point penalty this year. Reduced to 1 or maybe 0 points deduction. Or, I guess, and I don't really know this, it could be increased. I did read somewhere we had asked for the 2 points to be deferred until next year. My suggestion was just to pull the appeal and just accept the 2 points.

4 wins in our last 5 games, all with a clean sheet. Like Dyche or not that's an excellent return and at a vital time. Personally I will always be very grateful to Dyche gor keeping us up following 8 points deducted.
Already thinking about transfers and next season. Onvs money is tight and unfortunately we look like selling couple big guns.

Out
Branthwaite (great shame)
Onana (meh)
Young
Keane
Gomes
Beto (not good enough)
Harrison
Danjuma

Delle on a play - pay deal?

In
Webster - Brighton
Berge - Burnley
Hamer- Sheff Utd
Barkley- Luton
Archer - Villa
Nielson- Arsenal
Smith-rowe - Arsenal (loan)
Nketiah - Arsenal (loan)

I don't watch the championship or international leagues so have no idea ha ha, hopefully our scouts do.
Hopefully a couple of youth come good.

28 Apr 2024 11:51:45
Think were committed to buying Beto BB, around 25m I think. Guys a grafter but 25m? not for me. That lad at Boro Latte Lath looks a decent player, think we could have got him for less.
Think we just need to move on from Deli mate, lads already cost us a lot of money with no return.
As for the rest, well think it's going to open an interesting debate.

Agree0 0Disagree

28 Apr 2024 12:38:58
Berge and Hamer would be good signings Bunk. Don't fancy Webster or Barkley. Sheff actually signed Archer for just shy of 20m so too pricey for us.

Nelson wouldn't come and doubt we would get the other lads on loan tbh.

We are obviously skint so need to think outside the box in the market.

RB - Sugaware - AZ Alk - watched him v Hammers and lad has energy, good tackler and loves putting a ball in. Not sure what he would cost. Gendrey from Leece would be a cheaper alternative.

CB - Buongiorno - Torino - ship has probably sailed on him now but is one of the best young CB's in the world imo. Lad has everything you want in a CB.

RW - BernabƩ - Parma - lad used to be at City and Barcelona so has decent pedigree. Reminds me of Gerard but more tenacious and better end product. Only 22 so perfect age for us.

CM - You are spot on with Hamer. Wouldn't be against Sheaf at Cov or even the Japanese fella at Celtic, Hatate.

ST

- Dia - Salernitana. Perhaps Beto may fancy going back to Italy, a league where he did well in.
- Morris at Luton would be cheapish. He is a grafter and puts himself about and can finish.
- Akor Adams - Montpellier.

{Ed025's Note - good knowledge there BN, kudos mate..

Nice posts lads, never heard of most of them to be honest blue nose so can't comment but would love us to sign :

Ronnie Edwards from Peterborough
Jacob Greaves from hull
Ben Johnson free from west ham
Ndidi free from Leicester,
The 19 year old wigan centre back Hughes I think his name is
Gnoto from Leeds
And Barkley

And move on Calvert Lewis branthwaite onana for funds.

28 Apr 2024 16:15:37
Walker-Peters would be a good signing as rb. Can play on left with ease too. he's better than championship football. Jota who was at Celtic would be another decent signing. We need flair and pace on wings.

So, safe with 3 matches left. What were we worried about?

First of all, a big thank you to Sean Dyche and the team for making us safe in, what has not been a stellar season for us. Add on the points though, that were taken from us, and we'd be mid tablish

Dyche has his faults. He doesn't seem (to me) to make substitutions as quick or as effectively as most of us would like. He has not brought any youth through with the exception of the excellent Branthwaite but he even seemed reluctant at first to bring him into the first team

People say he is negative in his team set up and tactics. Defensively minded and "hoof ball". I'd agree but would say what is he supposed to do with the squad he's been given?

We are a team lacking in pace. Go through the team and who's got real pace? I'd argue that only Godfrey has it and even he isn't the same player as he was before his injuries. Coleman, Gomes, McNeil, Gueye, Young, Beto frankly don't have it

We're still not buying well. Beto and Chermiti? Did they really justify their fees/ wages? Were they really better than keeping Simms and/ or Cannon and spending the money on other positions. The same could be said of Danjuma and Harrison on loan. We've still not solved our problems at right back (possibly even both flanks as neither side offers much offensively) . I wish him (Deli) well but why did we buy Deli with his wages? Onana - we might actually make some money if we sell him but he's not been a success in my opinion - a poor mans Pogba with all the hype

One answer as to why we bought Deli possibly could be the lack of creativity in midfield. There is no one with good figures on assists or build up play. I think we must be the worst in the division

With all of the above Dyche had to, in my opinion, be pragmatic. He made us difficult to score against, The fact we are second to Arsenal in clean sheets is a testament to that and to the excellence on Pickford, Tarkovsky and Branthwaite in particular. The lack of pace in midfield forced him play 2 DM's in the majority of games. The lack of creativity meant we had to rely on set pieces, 2nd balls. The football hasn't been attractive but it's been very effective and we're staying up

Next season people are calling for a new manager with an attacking philosophy, bringing in new, younger, players. All very good but all very dangerous if not done right

Whatever we do I hope we recognise the job Dyche has done for us under very difficult conditions.

Disagree Thelwell is a big reason behind the push to level up the Club. The incompetence at the Club has been headed by Moshri/ A. N. Other and 'trusted' advisors (who now that the Inn of plenty has dried up, have cut and run) . Add to that the determination of Richard Masters to ward off the incoming Independent Regulator by the attempted destruction of a historic founding Member of the very League he leads. In my view Dyche has done a fantastic job. I believe Masters has dug a hole so deep that it has now awoken some very powerful people.

Agree2 0Disagree

28 Apr 2024 09:57:54
BW, the only point about Godfrey I would add is look where he is playing (and still doing a good job) . The lad is primarily left sided. With the whole Squad fit and well he would be in his natural position. Young in my view has played better the last couple of games because he has green in his natural left side position.

Agree0 0Disagree

28 Apr 2024 13:05:38
Think if we do sell Branthwaite then Godfrey might find himself back in the middle.

Agree0 0Disagree

28 Apr 2024 13:15:15
The only thing I said about Godfrey is that he hasn't shown the same pace as regularly as he did before his fairly serious injury and the bout of C.V. he had.

Personally I'm surprised Garner hasn't been played at right back more this season because he looked good there last season and even got into the England squad in that position. I can only put it down to Dyche not being happy with Gueye and Onana as the 2 DM's.

Agree0 0Disagree
